About X-Marker©, also known as Smurf spray
X-Marker© is the only legal self-defense spray in the Netherlands! (It is sometimes confused with the legally prohibited tear gas or pepper spray, but X-Marker© is not prohibited by Dutch law.) This does mean, however, that X-Marker© spray may only be used in emergency situations. In practice, this roughly means when body, dignity, or property are or will be in danger.
The X-Marker© has a 50ml capacity, is 12 cm tall, and has a diameter of 3.5 cm. Its compact size makes the X-Marker© easy to carry in your bag, jacket pocket, or trouser pocket. However, various clips are also available to attach the X-Marker© spray to your pants or belt. See the additional X-Marker© products for more information.
The X-Marker© is a self-defense spray, which, unlike illegal pepper spray and tear gas, may be used on the street because it is not prohibited by Dutch law. This does mean, however, that it may only be used in emergency situations. This means when body, dignity, or property are or will be in danger. Therefore, you may only use the X-Marker© when there is absolutely no other option to avert the "attack." Therefore, if someone can escape and secure themselves without using any means whatsoever, they should do so. The X-Marker© comes with an instruction manual.
How the X-Marker© Works
After leaving the X-Marker©, the blue liquid will transform into a foam almost immediately upon contact with the body. This can best be compared to the foaming of shaving cream. Because the attacker's face is covered in foam, they can no longer see and will try to wipe the foam from their face. From this moment on, you will have time to escape the attacker and get to safety.
To ensure that the attacker is caught, you will have to file a report and create a personal description. Because the attack causes a great deal of stress and anxiety and often occurs completely unexpectedly, it is often impossible for most victims to provide a good and complete personal description. As a result, an attacker often cannot or may not be prosecuted. Because the X-Marker© contains a dye (which is harmless to health) that penetrates deeply into the skin and leaves the attacker with a blue face for up to three days, it is easier to track down your attacker. Even after a heavy wash, the dye will remain visible.
What to do after use?
If you have had to use the X-Marker© within three years of purchase, for a demonstrably valid reason, you will receive a new X-Marker© spray free of charge!*
